When I was 25, I started boxing kinda by accident. Some place nearby was running a special, and I walked in. I wasn’t interested in becoming a boxer, and definitely hadn’t even heard of a jab or cross. That was fine, because I wasn’t really there to be a lady boxer, I was honestly just looking for accountability. After trying so many other classes and gyms and methods, it felt like every time I tried something new, I would let myself down. For some reason, I just couldn’t dedicate myself to a goal if I was the only person let down if I quit or failed. I really needed a place that expected me to show up, even when I didn’t want to. And had standards for me that were higher than I had for myself. (They also had to be non-negotiable. I do be negotiating with myself haha.)

Seven years later, it’s really changed my life. It taught me discipline, and what happens when I show up consistently. Even if I don’t have 100% to give that day. It also turned out to be super fun. I didn’t think I’d get the hang of it so quickly, definitely didn’t expect to become so passionate about the form and technical mechanics of… boxing? Really? Boxing has really changed a lot for me, both physically and mentally. Now I’m trying to build a community a private training business that I wish existed when I first started. Specifically for ambitious women who are a little bit chaotic. Bonus points if you also like to look cute while you’re working out. ;)

Sometimes you just need something (or someone) outside of yourself to help unlock that uncompromising discipline, and self-accountability. That’s what I needed, so I’m trying to create a space for other women who need that too. Welcome.
